About our chapter
Amnesty International Youth is a global, youth-led movement of students and young people who defend human rights through education, activism, and community organizing.
The Altamonte Springs Chapter is a local group of young people right here in Florida, turning outrage into action. We believe that ordinary teenagers, organized together, can change the world.
Here's what we actually do:
- Write letters & petitions for Urgent Action cases, prisoners of conscience and people at risk.
- Run human-rights education & awareness campaigns in schools and the community.
- Host film screenings and discussion nights.
- Organize peaceful advocacy and fundraising events.
- Connect local youth to global human-rights movements.

Why this work matters
Human rights are under threat every single day. People are jailed for speaking, silenced for who they are, and forgotten behind walls. But history has a pattern: young people are almost always at the front of change.
Grassroots youth pressure is not symbolic. Letters get prisoners of conscience freed. Campaigns change laws. Collective voices shift what an entire community is willing to accept. Every signature is a message that says: the world is watching, and we will not stay quiet.
When we build a human-rights culture among young people, we protect everyone's freedoms, not just today, but for the future we are about to inherit. This is our fight, and we intend to win it together.
